Hoffmeister goes East
The Gur Emir Mausoleum in the Uzbek city of Samarkand is the tomb of the Central Asian conqueror Timur Lenk. It was built in 1403/04 and is regarded as the most outstanding example of the special construction of a double-shell dome developed among the Timurids.
For the illumination of the outdoor area, the ground recessed luminiares in.ground and hi.vertical as well as the spotlight Lovo were used. They accentuate impressively the front facade of the main building, the Ivan in front of the vaulting that no longer exists, the minarets and the outer dome.
