Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt reopens after extensive renovations
The Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt opened its doors to the public again in late 2014. The museum had been closed for the previous seven years to allow for extensive renovations.
The Schiel Projektgesellschaft company from Berlin came up with an overall exhibition planning concept adapted to the new architecture. The wide and diverse variety of collections at the State Museum called for specific presentations in keeping with each collection.
Showcasing the high-quality objects appropriately to the public also necessitated high-quality lighting solutions. The light planners opted for gin.o spotlights from Hoffmeister in the exhibition areas. Five different beam angles and the option of adding numerous accessories, such as hoods, louvres and diverse light-directing lenses, allowed for great planning flexibility, guaranteeing the best results in different scenarios. With a light colour of 2700K, the luminaires achieve a colour rendering index > 90. This gives a natural effect for appreciation of the exhibits.
When the spotlights are combined with the current Hoffmeister control.x power rail, the light can be conveniently controlled and dimmed using e.g. a DALI interface.
