Expressive lighting for the Frauenfriedenskirche
The Frauenfriedenskirche (Our Lady’s Peace Church) in Frankfurt am Main was built in the 1920s as a memorial to peace and is considered an important example of Expressionist sacred architecture in Germany. With its high nave and large arched windows, it poses particular challenges for lighting: on the one hand, it should showcase the impressive spatial structure, while on the other hand ensuring homogeneous illumination for liturgical and cultural uses.
For the sophisticated lighting of the church interior, the planners opted for Hoffmeister’s precise and flexible lighting system.
Customised lighting for the nave
In the nave, lo.nely 3 spotlights provide uniform general lighting. This gently emphasises the volume of the space and creates a pleasant lighting atmosphere. lo.nely 4 spotlights were also installed in the clerestory windows. These illuminate the opposite rows of pews and at the same time support the natural lighting concept of the architecture. The precise lighting technology of the luminaires used ensures high colour rendering and glare-free light – ideal for the sensitive sacred context.
